Week 3 - Twitter
It's very easy to use, customer's should find it easy to use. It could definitely be used in both the learn.nets and workrooms. If I wanted to find out what any of my family were doing, I would pick up the phone or simply invite myself over to their homes. We are that kind of family, no invitation needed - whanau, whanau, tatou, tatou.
I have followed Twitter before when I overheard Tosca talking about tweeting. I was like, huh!? I managed to find out what it was. I think this could work with our patrons who are into the whole social blogging, networking stuff. They would find it interesting.
I would use Twitter to spy and stalk people (lol)see what they're up too. I'm not sure my own friends and family would be into it but I can definitely see myself promoting this, especially if it's for the best for our libraries and communities.

Week 2 - Zamzar
We have a lot of patrons who have old computers and therefore have old applications. A lot of the files they bring in are quite old and we can't seem to open them. Some of them are formats I've never heard of. With this new website, I can show patrons, family and friends how easy it easy to convert files. Images, docs, music, videos - how cool is that? I think it's, Awesome!

Week One - Blogging April 2010
Wow. The school holidays are over and gone, thank goodness. When you have programmes running every day, twice a day, it tires the body and weakens the mind. We're not getting any younger folks. Check out some of our photo's below from our April Holiday.

Latest Reads
Thanks Dejanee and Dorz for letting me know that your both reading my blog. Don't forget to leave comments.
Anyway the Teen Club, Legit, is due to start back shortly. I'm hoping to have things up and running by March, so please bear with me everyone. I have not forgotten you.
So what have I been reading? The Carter Girls Series which contains 4 books. The author is Melody Carlson.
1. Mixed Bags
2. Stealing Bradford
3. Homecoming Queen
4. Viva Vermont
It's your typical girly set up. Girls living away from home and boarding at an ex-model's house who just happens to be a grandmother now. There's heaps of drama in these books and typically what you would expect from rich catty girls but there are friendships formed in this house.
I would probably give them a 4/10 rating. I'm not really a fan of girly books.
I also read:
1. Marly's Ghost: a remix of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol. The author is David Levithan. This was ok. If your've ever read and liked Charles Dickens' A christmas carol then you'll enjoy this. In this case the main character has given up on love because his true love has died. He's bent on destroying everyone's perception on love until he's visited by the 3 spirits.
I would give this a 5/10. It was ok but not great.
So everyone..keep reading and if you want to request these books come in to your local library or just check us out on our website http://www.manukau-libraries.govt.nz keep me up to date on what's happening around. Till we meet again...later's.

Any questions
This is really handy for those really tricky homework questions. The great thing about this network is: a nationwide network of librarians at your disposal. Remember everyone, this is to help with your homework.
